Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 30, 2026

This policy explains how Silicon Valley Services ("SVS", "we", "us") handles personal information when you use this website, including the remote support page, the technician verification tool and the diagnostics tools (together, the "Site"). We handle personal information in line with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

If you are an SVS managed services client, your service agreement and our corporate privacy policy also apply to the support work we do for you.

1. Information we collect

  • Server logs. Like most websites, our web server automatically records your IP address, browser user agent, the pages requested, the referring page and the date and time of each request.
  • Diagnostics input. When you use a diagnostics tool, the domain names, hostnames, IP addresses or URLs you enter are sent to our server, or directly to the third-party service named below, to run the check. We do not save them to a database.
  • "My IP / Browser" information. This tool shows you your public IP address, reverse DNS hostname and browser, operating system and device type. It is generated when you load it and shown only to you. We do not store it beyond the server logs described above.
  • Information you give us directly. If you call, email or book a meeting with us, we receive whatever you choose to share, such as your name, email address, phone number and details of your issue.

The Site has no user accounts. It does not set its own cookies or use analytics or advertising trackers.

2. Remote support sessions

The remote support client is provided by Getscreen.me. The technician verification widget is provided by a third-party verification service. When you download the client or start a session, those providers process information such as your IP address, device details and session metadata under their own privacy policies.

During a remote session, the SVS technician can see your screen and may control your device. They can only do this with your permission, and you can end the session at any time. We use a session only to resolve the issue you asked us to help with. We do not look at, copy or keep your files or personal information unless the support work requires it.

3. Third-party services used by the Site

Some features load content from, or send requests directly from your browser to, these providers:

  • Google: web fonts (fonts.googleapis.com) and DNS lookups (dns.google)
  • jsDelivr: page styles and scripts
  • Cloudflare: the internet speed test (speed.cloudflare.com, 1.1.1.1)
  • ipinfo.io: IP address geolocation lookups
  • Microsoft: meeting booking through Microsoft Bookings
  • Getscreen.me and the technician verification provider, as described above

When your browser contacts these services, they receive your IP address and standard request information. Some of them may be located outside Canada, and their own privacy policies apply to how they handle that data.

4. How we use information

  • To provide the remote support and diagnostics services you request
  • To keep the Site secure, prevent abuse and troubleshoot problems
  • To reply to your questions and support requests

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not use it for marketing without your consent.

5. Retention

Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and troubleshooting, and are then deleted. We keep information from support requests for as long as we need it to provide services to you and to meet our legal and contractual obligations.

6. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and review our safeguards regularly.

7. Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, or withdraw your consent to how we use it, subject to legal and contractual limits. To make a request, contact us using the details below. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when it last changed.
